WHAT IS NOT SHOWN TO TOURISTS

What is usually demonstrated, is widely available in hundreds of various booklets. Here only the main items are pointed out because any tourist finds himself under the guardianship of a lot of tourist services supplying the same standard information. This information is sorted in usual Russian "facade way": several representative objects of considerably good appearance are shown and legends about their ethnic Russian nature are repeated. Here several typical samples of vandalism are proposed to be looked at as an alternative, in the Town and in Tzarskoe (so called "Pushkin", originally Saarimoisio, Saari).

1 - Knife engravings on marble of the Marble Bridge; tourists should pay
attention to usually broken off marble balls of the balustrade.
The entrance to the bridge is periodically closed in attempt to
      decrease possibilities of vandal actions.
2 - Tourists should notice the gilded ornament of the front gate of
the Great Palace square from the side of Alexandre's park.
Pieces of the ornament are broken off by Russian teenagers
who consider themselves "stealing gold" in this way.
